A gentle and clarifying foundational breath practice to bring awareness to the left and right energy channels (nadis) of the body. By breathing slowly and intentionally through one nostril at a time—first left, then right—we begin to observe subtle differences in breath quality, temperature, and ease of flow.
In Ayurveda and yogic science, each nostril corresponds with a different energy principle:
The left nostril connects to ida nadi — calming, cooling, lunar energy.
The right nostril connects to pingala nadi — warming, energising, solar energy.
This simple yet revealing practice helps:
Prepare the body for deeper pranayama
Improve nostril patency and breath awareness
